Introducing the new Summit GroovN 106 cm SE Rocker/Camber Skiboards. These rocker 106 skiboards are true all mountain, all condition skiboards.

Description

Reintroduced again this season due to popularity, the Summit GroovN 106 cm SE Rocker Camber Skiboards! These GroovN 106 skiboards are true all mountain, all condition skiboards, the original “One Skiboard Does It All” design. Made to hold on ice, hardpack and float through powder, just like the SK8 96 and Invertigo 118. skiboards, these are designed for pure mountain fun. These are at home anywhere on the mountain, including those steep chutes you see in the ski movies, ripping through moguls or flying through the glades. If you want something that does it all, these are the prime choice.

The Summit GroovN (“Groovin”) 106 skiboards offer a unique combination of 15% Rocker front tip, 80% traditional camber and 5% rocker tail. What does this mean? It means riding through soft snow is an almost effortless ride, feeling more like surfing! This unique combination of Rocker tips and tails delivers fast turn initiation, a super short turn radius as if riding something much shorter, yet with traditional camber that offers amazing edge grip on hard pack/ice. Rocker tip/tail design provides easier riding transitions in powder, clumps of snow and slush, tending to ride up and over while preventing tips  from digging in.

Multiple Binding Options: These Summit GroovN 106 cm SE Rocker Camber Skiboards feature 4 stainless steel insert allowing the use of Snowboard bindings like the Technine Custom Pro DS Snowboard Bindings. These can also be mounted with release bindings like the Atomic M10 or Warden MNC 11 bindings. We pre-mount the release bindings for you and include free wide brakes.

One feature definitely worth mentioning is that these skiboards feature our special Carbonium top sheet that provides greater durability, yet allows the graphics to shine through without distortion. These look so much better in person than we can portray on the web.

New this season is an upgraded graphite sintered base for maximum wax retention, durability and enhanced speed.

These are a special hybrid ABS Cap/Sidewall construction (CS). These offer numerous advantages including:

• increased torsional stability,

• greater edge protection against sharp edges hitting top sheets,

• enhanced power transfer to the edges,

• improved vibration dampening,

• greater strength, and

• a full length flex from tip to tail.

These Summit GroovN 106 cm SE Rocker/Camber Skiboards are true symmetrical twin tips (to ride or land jumps backwards). The tip-to-tail Northern Birch/poplar wood core provides a super smooth flex allowing you to truly enjoy your ride every time coupled with the wide body construction and fast sintered bases that offer surprising speed. These will definitely bring a smile to your face all the way down the run. Ready to play?

Bindings:

Atomic M10 Ski Release Bindings: These are pre-mounted with the M10 release bindings for the perfect combination for safety, flex and step-in-and-go performance. This includes free mounting. M10 bindings feature: DIN range of 3-10. Twin pivot. Toe height adjustment. Adjustments can be done by hand and fits ski boot sizes 261-384 mm (approximately US size 4 – 14 U.S.).

Strive MNC 11 Performance Bindings. Multi Norm Certified, which means it works with all types of boot soles – DIN, Touring and Walk To Ride (WTR). It has an Oversized Platform and U-Power Toe – a super-wide platform that provides extra lateral power transmission, steering, flex and dampening. Platform is also 30% wider than comparable bindings so it works particularly well with progressive wider skiboards. DIN range of 3.5 to 11. Boot size 4-14 US.

Snowboard Bindings: Yes, these can be mounted with any Snowboard bindings or purchase our Technine Custom.  Inserts hold your bindings secure. It is highly recommended to purchase our Technine Custom Pro DS Snowboard Bindings with Summit riser kit to elevate your bindings and provides maximum performance.

If you want to use your own snowboard bindings, order these without bindings, then add the Snowboard Binding Adaptor Kit so your bindings will deliver the performance. Read more about snowboard bindings with skiboards.

Bags: The Skiboards.com 125 cm Carry Bag fits these with ski bindings. If you order with snowboard bindings choose the Skiboards.com 130 cm Padded Skiboard Bag Double.

“After skiing the Head 94s for years (they were perfect for teaching my kids to ski!) It was time to dial up! I adore these Summits!! I am in the North East so I can attest to their ability to hold on ice but also love how fast and sure they are on rest of the mountain!! I feel so much more in tune with the trails lines and carve so effortlessly. They turn on a dime and hold a line with zero chatter! From double blacks with “North East hardpack” (that’s ice for the rest of you!) To wide open blues to scream down….these skiboards are a blast and certainly certainly an upgrade!!!!!!!!!!!!! Perfection” – Janine

Rocker/Camber Design: a unique combination of Rocker/Camber construction — 15% rocker in front with 4 mm rise, 5% rear with 4 mm rise and 80% traditional camber with 2 mm rise. This makes for super easy turn initiation, excellent float in powder, a very short turn radius and provides stable carving at speed. ABS Sidewall Construction: Crafted with ABS sidewall construction, the Rocker construction provides many advantages over cap construction. Among these advantages are increased torsional stability, greater edge protection, enhanced power transfer to the edges, improved vibration dampening, greater strength and a full length flex from tip to tail. Translated, these will ride like no other skiboards you have ridden. Wood core: vertically laminated, hand selected cold temperature birch wood core runs the full length of the skiboards, tip to tail. This provides a lighter weight, yet superior strength. The benefit of Northern Hemisphere Birch is that the colder temperatures cause the trees to grow at a slower pace, thus creating a denser, yet lighter wood. As a result, the birch wood core is very light, yet super strong and durable. Cores are vertically laminated for extra strength. The high energy, lively wood core is sandwiched between two top layers of triaxial fiberglass (new layer added this season) for torsional strength and a layer of triaxial fiberglass underneath. An additional layer of Kevlar is is added for not only extra strength and impact resistance, but super long durability that maintains the energetic pop in the skiboards. These skiboards offer just the right combination of flex and torsional stiffness providing a super smooth ride without the chatter no matter how much you lay it over. In addition, a rubber dampening layer is included to absorb vibrations while still allowing maximum road feel. 360 full wrap Rockwell carbon steel edges: protects your skiboards from those unexpected dings while providing superior edge grip. Edges are sand blasted prior to assembly to ensure a perfect, secure fit. Wide Body Shape: a large skiboard surface area for maximum stability, floatation and speed. Symmetrical Twin-tips: makes it easier to ride forwards as well as backwards. Excellent handling in the parks and pipes. Also, makes for the most perfect carves. Die Cut Graphite Sintered bases: this is one of the best base materials for durability, maximum wax absorption and speed. These p-tex 4000 bases have less friction and thus more speed as well as less vulnerability to abrasion and impacts. Carbonium Top Sheet: one of the strongest top sheets available (and very rare) that not only offers amazing top sheet protection from those potential dings and chips, but allows the sharp graphics to show through in all their detail. Includes UV protective layer.  Aluminum reinforcement layer: provides extra retention for release bindings, yet not adding weight and does not influence flex in any way. Adds to enhanced edge grip. Sidewall bevel: sidewalls are angled to further protect the top sheet from dings and chips. Edge bevel: 1 degree base and side bevel of 88 degrees: great for carving with ease. These aggressive edges are great for ice, and lay it over carving.

These skiboards are as advised. I just got back from skiing a week in Colorado with all kinds of conditions with these skiboards. I have no desire to go back to long skis. When I first discovered skiboards in 2012 I was using Head 94cm, these skiboards had gotten me off the greens and onto the rest of the ski mountain but these skiboards are not an all condition skiboards. When you go from greens to double blacks you see the ski mountain in a whole new light. I have been told by more than one ski instructor that I have the skills of skiing but not the conference. Skiboards not only gave me conference but also puts a smile on my face now whenever I get to go skiing. Funny how my husband told me skiboards are slow, yet many times I passed him on the ski mountain whether we were on a cat track or a blue/black trail. My husband had changed his mind after our ski trip. I keep telling my husband and anyone who will listen to at least try skiboards.

In Colorado for 5 days of early season skiing, I only used skis the first day. On day two I took skiboards and poles to a dedicated learning area. I used poles for 7 lift rides and each run was better than the previous run. After some skating practice at the base, I went up 2 more times without the poles. For each successive run balance improved, arc carving improved, quick turns improved, stops improved, confidence improved. After 2 to 3 hours this old dog, age 72, learned enough new tricks to tackle the rest of the mountain.
My plan was to do green and blue cruisers on the second skiboard day. On run number 2 I found myself at the top of an ungroomed blue trail. I very quickly learned to navigate moguls, crud and piles of old snow. When I got to the bottom, my legs seemed to be just as tired as when I skied moguls. Then I realized I had made twice as many turns on the skiboards. These things turn on a dime.
The technique seems to be a blend of skiing and snowboarding. I find it helpful to hold my hands a little in front of my body, much like a snowboarder. And I use more counter rotation when turning. And of course I can not lean as far forward or backward on skiboards as I can on skis because of the short fore and aft length.
I used the skiboards for my final 2 days. I even made a twisty run thru trees. Skiboards are a fun new snow riding experience. As the season progresses I will probably even try them in powder.

These skis are everything that they say. They float in the powder and grip on the ice. I have been skiing nothing but blades since 1997 and I live in Colorado at a ski resort. For years I have looked for Ski boards that would do what these guys do. Highly recommend.

I absolutely love my GroovN skiboards. I had a chance to use them for a week and decided that I needed a pair. Moguls in the trees were a breeze with these guy on. It was such an experience. I’m hooked. And it’s a huge perk that they are so easy to lug around and no need for poles. Just overall a win win ! Thanks doc for having great customer service!
