Oxygen Supplementation for Altitude Wellness

Oxygen Supplementation for Altitude Wellness

“There is not as much oxygen in our environment today as there was hundreds of years ago. At one time the oxygen level was at 38%, now it is at 21%, and in some cities, even as low as 18%. Thus in our present environment, we have only about half the oxygen that our bodies were designed to run on in order to be in good health. Without adequate oxygen, our body fluids and blood can become dirty and toxic. Viruses, fungus, parasites, and unfriendly germs thrive in an environment that is low in oxygen, high in carbon dioxide, and high in acid or a low pH factor”. World Wide Health Organization

Let’s take a look at who benefits from supplemental oxygen…those who experience:

  • Memory loss
  • Irrational behavior
  • Irritability
  • Poor Digestion
  • Muscle aches & pains
  • Lung problems
  • Dizziness
  • Depression
  • Body weakness
  • Disease
  • Circulation problems
  • Lack of Acid stomach Energy
  • Increased bacteria, germs viruses
  • Bronchial and breathing problems

Fatigue at higher altitudes is due to the oxygen molecules being less dense. Ascending 5,000 or more feet in elevation in the mountains can result in mild symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness – headaches, nausea, dizziness, disturbed sleep, fatigue, shortness of breath and loss of appetite (similar to the symptoms above). Oxygen supplementation can alleviate or even eliminate these symptoms so you can enjoy your vacation in the mountains.

When the brain does not receive enough oxygen, the brain is impaired and a condition known as hypoxia can occur. Hypoxia is the deficiency of oxygen reaching tissues of the body. Hypoxia can occur in oxygen-deficient environments, including higher mountain elevations. The worst symptom of hypoxia is how it affects the brain by diminishing a person’s awareness of the oxygen deficiency. In oxygen-deficient environments, some people experience mild euphoria and feel fine, even though they may be unable to write their name legibly or sort a deck of cards.

In addition, intense exercise such as skiing demands more oxygen, which fuels the cells, producing energy and aiding in muscle recovery. Muscles use glycogen from carbohydrates, and when glycogen is burnt in the absence of oxygen, it produces lactic acid, which results in muscle fatigue. Olympic athletes, as well as professional football players and other elite athletes, have long used supplemental oxygen to restore depleted blood-oxygen-levels and recover from muscle fatigue. Anaerobic exercise and workouts that produce high levels of lactic acid are the most responsive to supplemental oxygen.

Consuming alcohol depletes the oxygen content in your bloodstream. The use of supplemental oxygen increases the amount of oxygen to the body’s cells, serving as an aid to help lessen, and recover from, the negative effects of hangovers. While extra oxygen intake does not help with the consequences of dehydration related to hangovers, oxygen actively breaks alcohol down into harmless chemicals or substances, of which your body can more readily dispose. People who occasionally over-indulge have found that extra oxygen intake helps them recover more quickly.

What about skiing at altitude? Since the air pressure is lower at high altitudes, your body may struggle to absorb much-needed oxygen. This can cause disorientation, headaches, nausea, shortness of breath and weakness. In severe cases people have been hospitalized. This is altitude sickness.

There are many ways to stay healthy at altitude so you can still enjoy your getaway. Here are some tips to get acclimated so you can focus on having fun!

  • Supplement Oxygen: There are numerous products on the market to supplement the oxygen in your blood. Our Altitude Wellness Products (Altitude RX and Opaline Dry Oxy caps) contains two of the most effective products we have found and we have done our research. These are available on our website.
  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of liquids. High elevations can cause fluid loss, so it’s important to stay well hydrated. Stick with water or liquids that replace electrolytes. Avoid sugary or caffeinated beverages such as soda-pop. These liquids act as diuretics and can dehydrate you. Drink lots of water! Frequent urinating from consuming so much water is much better than laying in bed with a splitting headache.
  • Eat Right: A meal high in carbohydrates will improve your body’s ability to absorb oxygen, and will give you the energy needed to adjust to the elevation. Avoid salty foods – the sodium will increase your blood pressure, which can exacerbate the symptoms of altitude sickness.
  • Take Your Vitamins: It’s been shown that taking iron supplements makes it easier to perform aerobic activities (like skiing) at high elevations. Consult a doctor first, though – iron is toxic in high doses. Taking Opaline Dry Oxy in the weeks leading up to your skiing getaway, and maintaining that dosage during your trip, can also reduce the time needed to adjust to the altitude. Our Altitude RX caps works a little differently and should be taken a day or two before you reach altitude. These work great in synergy.
  • Lower your Beer/Alcohol and Tobacco consumption: These can impact your body’s ability to absorb oxygen. Of course, it’s hard not to indulge yourself when in the mountains and on vacation!
  • If All Else Fails: If you’ve feeling ill, descend to a lower elevation and work your way back up to the resort gradually. Sometimes the best remedy is simply time. While no one wants to lose out on a day’s fun, you’ll feel even worse if your whole trip is wrecked due to prolonged illness.

More About Oxygen Supplementation

There are many forms in which Oxygen is available to you. You can get access to Oxygen in Hyperbaric Chamber treatments (at medical facilities under Dr.s care), Oxygen Bars (located at airports, malls, and ski resorts places), Oxygen tanks that are portable under Dr’s supervision, Hospital and Traumatic Care Units (during Traumas, surgeries, and medical emergencies), Hydrogen Peroxide (available in Drug Stores and Grocery Stores), and more recently ‘on line’ in Liquid Drops, Oxygen Tablets combined with Magnesium (generally ozonized) used as Colon Cleansing, and Capsules (Like Opaline® Dry Oxy Capsules) which are a dietary Supplement, as well as lozenges like Altitude Adapt. All of this makes the point that Oxygen is here to stay and people are recognizing the benefits of having it available for their personal situations.

Hyperbaric Chambers were in use back in the mid 1960’s at Brooks School of Aerospace Medicine in San Antonio, TX. (now known as U. S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine) used during the designing of the space suits for space travel for NASA. It also was used to treat “the Benz” which is a result of scuba diving and surfacing too quickly creating Nitrogen in the blood and having no oxygen. Without the HBOT these patients would have died. They also used HBOT to cure gangrene wounds as Oxygen is proven to stop the growth of gangrene (which is an anaerobic bacteria-not able to live in the presence of Oxygen). Gangrene rarely is treatable by using antibiotics and without Oxygen treatment commonly results in amputations of the affected limbs. Diabetics have a serious problem due to limited circulation to their extremities which opens the door to anaerobic infections like gangrene due to the lack of Oxygen from the blood stream. HBOT is still currently a mainstay treatment for gangrene. Wound Care facilities are quite common using HBOT regularly for the treatment of Wounds.

Oxygen Bars are used to help people deal with many issues of Oxygen Deficiency such as migraines, muscle fatigue, brain fog, jet lag, high altitude, asthma, detoxification, etc. Jet pilots routinely use straight Oxygen before and during flights (especially if they have a ‘hang-over’). Oxygen can keep them from becoming unconscious due to high speeds, high altitudes, G-forces, and fast altitude changes.

Many people use various forms of portable Oxygen machines prescribed by their physician for problems like pneumonia, asthma, pulmonary hyper tension, congestive heart failure, emphysema, and many more. The problems with this method of treatment are traveling, difficulty managing the equipment, fire hazard, and potential for pneumonia. A Physician’s supervision and prescription are required for this treatment. It is difficult to manage a normal ‘lifestyle’.

Most everyone who goes into a hospital or is transported by ambulance for trauma knows that the first thing that happens is that you are connected to Oxygen through a tube that goes around your ears and has a nose apparatus to deliver Oxygen to your lungs to assist you during your treatment. This is done both as a preventative and as a preparation for whatever extended treatment might lie ahead for your condition. It is a ‘safety net’.

Liquid Drops (under many commercial names) are marketed ‘online’ as a dietary additive to give Oxygen support through the digestive tract. They come in a variety of combinations with other additives. The issue to be considered with the use of these liquid peroxide drops, is that, like Hydrogen Peroxide, they are oxygen suspended in a liquid that needs some kind of ‘Chlorine’ additive to keep the Oxygen stabilized in the liquid. Sodium Chloride is common, along with many other additives. The problem with Chlorine molecules is that when they combine with water, they ‘bio-degrade’ and become ‘DIOXIN’, which is the most carcinogenic chemical known to man. That’s why the paper companies had to stop using chlorine bleach for manufacturing paper products, as the Dioxin created was killing the natural flora like fish, frogs, birds, ducks, etc of our streams and rivers. Is this what you want to add to your diet on a daily basis?

Hydrogen peroxide (hydrogen dioxide) is a water molecule with an extra oxygen atom. Hydrogen peroxide (French: Eau Oxygenee) was first reported by the French chemist Louis-Jacques Thenard in 1818. Our upper atmosphere contains an ozone layer. Unstable ozone (03) gives up its extra atom of oxygen to falling rainwater to form hydrogen peroxide (H202). In 1863 Meissner proved its presence in rain water collected during thunderstorms and has been corroborated by other research. Hydrogen peroxide is a naturally occurring compound found in nature (oceans, lakes, rivers, rain and snow) and in all life forms. The human body creates and uses hydrogen peroxide (free radicals) to destroy harmful bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Hydrogen peroxide is found in all fresh fruits and vegetables, some of it comes from rain water and some of it is manufactured in the photosynthesis process. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables (preferably organic) in their raw state helps get this healing oxygen into our bodies.

Opaline® Dry Oxy Capsules are basically “dry stabilized oxygen” capsules used as a dietary supplement. These are in essence hydrogen peroxide. Dry Oxy capsules use the process of oxygenation in the body by activating dry stabilized oxygen to accelerate the body’s recovery process through the digestive system. Opaline® Dry Oxy Capsules are known for increasing energy (without caffeine) so should be taken during the time of day when you plan to be awake and active. (See Instructions)

About Nitric Oxide (NO)

Nitric Oxide is a molecule created by a person’s own body. Created in our blood vessels, it naturally optimizes circulation and is involved in virtually every organ system in our body. Nitric Oxide is critical to life. In fact, many scientists believe Nitric Oxide to be as important to humans as oxygen. It’s also is one of the most studied molecules in medical history. The revolutionary discovery of Nitric Oxide and its role in the human body won a Nobel Prize in 1998. Since then, NLogix Labs as well as top universities, pharmaceutical companies and even the U.S. Government have conducted hundreds of research studies on how the importance of Nitric Oxide levels in the body.

Nitric Oxide revolutionized conventional scientific reasoning because it was the first gaseous signaling molecule discovered in the cardiovascular system. Why does that matter? When Nitric Oxide is created in our blood vessels, it signals the surrounding arterial tissues “telling” them to relax. That lowers blood pressure, expands narrow blood vessels and lets your circulation kick into high gear.

More blood flow means better brain function and better attention; better oxygen transfer and more energy; even a better sex life. (Nitric Oxide is a key ingredient in many erectile dysfunction products because it stimulates penile blood flow.) Nitric Oxide also has important properties in the immune system where it helps us fight off infections and cancer cells, as well as in the nervous system where it helps our brain cells communicate properly. It also eliminates dangerous clots and reduces the formation of artery-clogging plaque. All that in one molecule your body creates.

Now that you know what Nitric Oxide does, know that Altitude RX is designed to help your body naturally increase its levels of Nitric Oxide.
