Wax:
Wanna smooth ride? Keep your sticks waxed! It is always a good idea to put a hot wax on your skiboards, especially when
they are new. Some then recommend putting Zardoz Notwax over it and then use that every day or two. The Zardoz adds more
speed to the ride and protects the wax and skiboards. If you take your skiboards to a tune shop, make sure that you tell
them to tune them like snowboards, not skis.
Edges:
You need to keep your steel edges clean and polished. That means:
1) Dry those pups out at the end of the day so they don't rust. Some skiers use an oil product to keep the edges
protected from moisture between trips to the mountain.
2) Keep a stone to polish out nicks and rust. And don't whack your edges together when you're bored while
sitting on the lift -- that creates nicks that will catch an edge about halfway down and drop you on your butt!
P-Tex:
There are various ways to fix scratches and gouges and holes on the base and you should do it ASAP, or rather have it
done at the shop. Again, that's your base you're riding on and if you rough it up riding over rocks and stuff your ride
will suffer, and you'll dump it right in view of that cute person you were about to ask over to the lodge for a nice
warm drink... Get it fixed!
