Snowjam Reviews:

I just wanted to drop you a line to thank you for signing me up for the newsletter. I've been skiing for the past twenty-or-so years, and recently got introduced to 'Skiboarding' by a friend of mine. I borrowed his Snowjam 90 cm's that he's had for a couple of years at the end of January. I used them at Killington in Vermont for two days and had a really fun time. When I returned home, I checked the Snowjam Web Page which led me to you folks. I wasn't really wild about the 'orange' swirl design of this years 90 cm Snowjams, but I liked the color of the 75 cm Snowjams (a green swirl pattern), so I ordered a pair of those. Not being able to wait for another trip to Vermont, I used them for night skiing at a local Massachusetts area and had a blast!!!

I did manage to get in another trip to Vermont, and again, had a really enjoyable day. I am thoroughly 'hooked' on the Skiboards, and have no plan on purchasing a pair of full-sized skis. I'm off to New Hampshire next week to skiboard with my daughter. It looks like my friend, Paul, may have to adjust those bindings on his Snowjams one last time!!! (I figure my daughter will borrow his set for the day and will also become a convert from traditional 'full-length skis' )

Well, I've ordered a 'Skiboards.com' Skiboard bag this weekend for my Skiboard. I suspect that I may be ordering a Skiboard and bag for my daughter at some point soon. (Well, since they're just so much fun, I'll just buy the wife a pair, too !!!!!) I really enjoyed reading the letters that people sent in, and want to also express my satisfaction with your customer service.

Great Website, great products, and great prices.... Why go anywhere else???? Thanks again, and Happy Skiboarding!!!!!

Dear Skiboards.com, You helped me pick out some skiboards that were just right for me! We just got back from Red River, NM and I used my Snowjam 90's for the first time. I absolutely LOVED them!! I am a cautious skier and my kids are always laughing at me because I go so slow. With the Snowjams I felt I had more control and was able to do runs I hadn't done before without falling. I even went a little faster but still wasn't able to keep up with my kids! I had a lot of people ask me about the Snowjams and I steered them in your direction. I just wanted to thank you again for all of your expert advice- I'm hooked! Now my 15 year old daughter wants a pair so we'll be ordering her some next Christmas.

Thanks again,
Cathryn

Review - 75cm snowjams

"Oh-boy those sure do look like loads of fun!!" Said the elderly woman standing in front of me at the lift. I was going back up to race my nephew down the mountain again, AND THIS TIME I WAS GOING TO WIN!!!. Now my nephew (14) had been skiing since the day he had learned to walk, I on the other hand had been skiboarding for about 3 hours. I was having a riot!!!!

Now, I don't want to give off the impression that I'm some old codger just because I have a 14 year old nephew. I'm 24 and recently took a job in Portland, OR. Moving from the heart of the south, which was flatter than a pancake and had less flakes than a "Head and Shoulders" commercial.

So now here I am surrounded on all sides by absolutely beautiful mountains and nothing to slide down them with except my fat ass. I started planning a "ski" weekend about a month and a half ago. It was a hell of dilemma, I didn't really want to do the traditional ski or snowboarding like everyone else (I'm an aggressive in-line skater and really enjoy being the only blader in my group of skater friends). So, I wanted something as fresh and exciting as my new home. I remember seeing something on TV about extreme sports and I saw a guy on what looked like short skis but he was riding and doing what looked very similar to in-line tricks. I was amazed and knew this was for me!!!

The next morning I hopped on the internet and started researching these "tiny skis". I didn't really know exactly what to look up. So, I simply searched for "in-line snow skating" and found a website about skiboarding. Now knowing what the sport was called I started spending every free moment on-line reading everything I could about the sport. I kept running into phrases like "in-line skating for the snow" or "snow-blading" and excitedly decided this was going to by MY winter sport, and to splurge on getting myself a pair.

After several hours of pricing and comparison and reading over and over the tips provided on skiboards.com I decided on the "SnowJam 75cm Twin-Tip". They absolutely ROCK!!!

We hit the mountain on Saturday. This was to be the first of our 3 day snowfest. I started off slow on the Easy Rider trails, not trying to jump into anything to quick, I got my feel on few green trails for about 2 hours. It was going great!!! Then came the challenge.

"Wanna race?" my Nephew sneered at me when we got back to lodge for some hot chocolate.

"Why not" I said. We slammed the rest of our cocoa and we were off. He beat me down the blue slope appropriately titled "the raceway" the first 2 times but the third I flew!!! I felt in total control, which in turn let me speed down the mountain at a rate I never would have felt comfortable with even on in-line skates. He kept commenting on tight carving I was able to do on my skiboards.

The rest of the weekend only got better. I tried a few jumps, and yes I fell some, but all in all I just loved the freedom of movement and control that allowed me to push myself and have the time of my life!!!

Thanks,
Jay,

Review Summary - These boards are absolutely awesome! I just got done riding them for the first time last night, my first time ever skiboarding or doing anything on a ski hill, and I was amazed how easy it is!!!

I just got back from my first time doing anything on a ski hill last night (1-8-01). I rode my brand new SnowJam 75cm Skiboards, and I absolutely love them!!! Like I said, this was all very new to me, but I have rollerbladed before, although I don't anymore, I still remembered most of the techniques and what not used when doing it, and wow, what similarity. If you can rollerblade or ice skate, you can strap on a pair of these boards and hit the slopes right away, within runs you'll be carving and jumping with the best of them! Last night I just loved carving all over the mountain, and hitting the jumps, although I had a few crash landings. Before the night was over I was doing grabs like nothing off the jumps. I can't wait to go back next week and try some new stuff. These are great boards for anyone, whether you're a beginner looking for something easy and quick to pick up on, or a veteran skiboarder looking for a low-cost high-quality pair of boards to mess around with. Now I'll get a little more technical...

On a scale of 1-10 I rated each of the categories for these boards, now I'll go through them. I give the general stability of these boards a 9 because they're so wide, it's really easy to ride them and learn right away. I give the carving/turning of these boards an 8, it was really easy to carve, but occasionally I found myself over-carving since the boards aren't that long, so there is not a whole lot of edge to use. As for the speed of the boards, I give it a 7, they weren't all that fast, but this can change depending on how your wax job is. I thought they were fast enough, at least for me. When jumping with these boards, I found it very easy to land, due to the wideness of the boards, you had a lot of area to come down on, so I give it an 8. The easyness of this board I give a perfect 10, because it was just so easy to learn! So, I'll give you a rundown of what I just said, on a 1-10 scale I rated; General stability-9, Carving/turning-8, Speed-7, Jumping/landing-8, Easyness/learnability-10.

More general information. The core is made of white birch wood from tip to tail for optimal flexibility, and a ground P-tex semi-sintered base for good speed even with bad waxing. The edges are made of metal, which is typical of most skis/skiboards, and come pre-sharpened for that good edge for carving. The tip/waist/tail width is 13.2/11.2/13.2 (tip is 13.2 cm wide, waist is 11.2, and tail is 13.2) for true twin tip design. Both the tip and the tail are raised 5.5 cm so you can ride backwards or forwards. There is a 55cm effective edge (this means that only 55cm of the sides are truly used when carving/turning) which leads to great carving capabilities.

The Snowjam Extreme bindings are the ones that you would most likely get with the boards, however you can upgrade to better ones. The snowjam bindings are made of all aluminum for great durability and strength. Also, it is easily adjustable tool-free (no tools requires to adjust the bindings) from sizes as small as a 2, and up to size 13.

All in all these are great skiboards for anyone and I would definitely suggest them to anyone looking to buy a pair of boards, due to their high quality and low cost.

Snowjam 90 twin review

Just wanted to let you know I took the Snowjam 90cm out to Jackson Hole this past weekend. I jumped right into some black moguls with knee deep snow and tore it up. It was like driving a V.W. Bug in city traffic. I'm hooked.

The staff at Skiboards.com along with the staff of Lynx vacations, our skiboard travel partner got a chance to test numerous products early this season. After two days of riding, this product came out as high on the staff pick list:

Snowjam 90 Twintip - Wow! Snowjam has jumped a notch from last season to really jump to the top of the high performance category - these boards are stable at speed, fast, easy to do tricks on and going backwards and the binding/skiboard package is a true match. If you want high performance, quality and still get it at an affordable price, the Snowjams have no equal. These also have a 4 hole mount should you care to switch out bindings.

Staff Review:
We got a chance to ride the new Snowjam 90cm Twin Tips and were impressed. These are highly stable at speed, are quite fast, great for tricks and riding fakie (backwards), and even handle on ice/hardpack and the new binding is very impressive especially considering it comes stock with these boards at an awesome price. These skiboards deserve to be considered among the best in their 90cm category.

Snowjam 75cm Twintip Review

After three times in the mountains, I've developed a fondness for these skiboards. I do believe that soon you will see growing numbers of skiboarders dancing on the snow on long groomers. These skiboards are the equivalent to roller blades or ice skates. You can translate the same skills onto the snow, partner(s) included.

The 75TT Snowjams are excellent for beginners as well. This is just a fun, fun board that will last a long time. It has a birch wood core, a semi-sintered base that glides through sticky snow (if properly waxed!), and has a customizable four-hole binding which I consider indispensible to the finer art of skiboarding as it allows the mounting of bindings of choice including the incomparable Bomber bindings. However the Snowjam itself does come with an adjustable aluminum binding which is more than sufficient for many skibaorders and superior to the plastic 8 hole bindings that you will find on mnay other models. All in all this is a skiboard that will open the sport of skiboarding to a whole new direction in winter sports. Kudos for Snowjam.

Snowjam 90cm Twin Tip Review

I was fortunate to get on the slopes this season at Copper Mountain the weekend of November 10th, the earliest I've ever been! I've been on numerous different skiboards the past three years, but without a doubt the Snowjam 90's were the most fun boards I've ever ridden on. I felt extremely well-balanced, in total control, and had a blast. They carved really well through packed powder, handled moguls with ease, and were so smooth at speed it made me feel free, confident and ready to take on more challenges. I can't wait to get on them again real soon!

Hi Skiboarders!

Early last week I took delivery of my Snowjam 75's and on Sunday (3/18/01) I had the opportunity to try them. I will turn 58 in a month and have been skiing on and off since introduction to the sport in my mid-thirties. With my late start in skiing and inrequent participation, I never did advance beyond novice level, and though I would be relegated to those green and blue cirles forever. All of that changed on Sunday at Spring Mountain in Eastern Pennsylvania, where the tow youngest of my three daughters and I discovered this thing called a terrain park. My daughters are quite new to skiing and still apprehensive about anything new or challenging, and they were on conventional skis. When they saw what I could do with the skiboards, they relaxed and became much more bold just from watching me have a good time on the Snawjams. The skiboards actually improved their skiing, and they never even had them on. I believe Doc's recommendation of the Snowjam 75's was a good one. I felt a little bit awkward at first, but balance came quickly and was following by a tremendous feeling of freedom on the slopes. I could maneuver much more easliy and quickly, making small corrections here and there that I couldn't think of doing on skis. Jumps and turns were no problem. I wish I got these earlier in the season. Our outing on Sunday was in fact the last operations at Spring Mountain for the 2000-2001 season, and I have to say the three of us had a blast.

Thanks again to Doc and the rest of you at Skiboards.com for getting me started on this.

I got the feel of skiboarding very, very quickly!

My first time on skiboards was truly one of the most enjoyable times of my life. Not only was it my first time on skiboards, it was my first time ever on any type of skis. Since it was my first time, I was more than just a little scared. I tried the Snowjam 75cm skiboards. They felt a lot like going down the mountain on rollerblades and were quite easy to ride.

With only a few tumbles here and there, I was able to pickup the feeling of skiboarding very, very quickly! I was told that it takes msot skiers at least a year or two if not more to be able to ski down a black slope, but by the end of my first day, I was doing it.

That day was the first day I have ever been on skiboards but it will not be the last. See you on the slopes.

Last night I used my new Snow Jam boards for the first time and I loved them!!!! They were so much better than my Canons. They were excellent on everything.

"The new Snowjam skiboards give me a truly excellent ride. The wider footprint affords much better stability and control. This year's graphics are really cool and classy. The best thing about them is they're priced right for kids, budget-minded adults and rental fleet orders."

"I chose the Snowjam 85cm twin-tip (the tip in the back doesn't come up as high as the front but still works for backwards). First off, just on inspection, these look great, well-made with a solid wood core and nice graphics. Bindings work great and are easy to adjust. Ride: very nice, especially for the price, wow! These are great entry-level skiboards, but of course, we immediately starting ripping down the hill on our first ru. They are quite stable with a somewhat stiffer ride than some skiboards and carry good speed. Actually, these boards handle a lot like in-lines. These work great and the bindings are secured with 8 t-bolts. Want something great to ride, but are temporarily under-funded? Check these out.
