This season, we have skiboards that will allow you to 'cross country ski' without the burden
of long sticks. Karhu and Rossignol offer easy cruising skiboards, more like gliding snowshoes,
complete with skins for uphill climbing, but which also allow you to float across the snow and also
cruise downhill. The glide of the skiboard allows you to access all the places a snowshoe could take
you with the ease of a gliding skiboard.

For those more adventurous, the wide body skiboards, such as
Fischer's XXL for example,
can take you into untracked terrain. Imagine hitting fresh powder all day! Many resorts have glade
runs and ungroomed trails where few dare to tread. With skiboards however, riding through the glades
is quite easy. In fact, glade runs really bring out the full potential of skiboards. With a wide
design skiboard, you simply lean back and rip the pow! Snowcat tours can take you to even more powder
stashes and you can choose your level of comfort.

Now if you love being out in nature, skiboarding the backcountry is the ultimate
peak experience. For those who love going steeper and deeper, blasting through powder and being inspired
by the most stunning vistas, skiboards can take you there. Advanced backcountry riding is not for the
unprepared however. As you go deeper into the backcountry, whether by snowcat, helicopter or by foot,
be educated. Backcountry skiboarding like all backcountry sports require responsibility and safety.
You should never be in the backcoutry alone or without proper knowledge of snowpack and appropriate
equipment. For those venturing into the more avalanche prone areas, equipment should include a pack
that carries a beacon, shovel, probes, extra water and extra clothing for changing conditions.
Remember that the backcountry is not patrolled and there are many unmarked hazzards like rocks,
stumps, and trees to get snagged on.
